Gracie’s Story

March 10, 2016, changed our lives forever. Gracie was getting ready for a dance and she fell and has not been able to walk on her own since. We went to Duke Hospital and they ran every test they could and they told us she had transverse myelitis. We went to Wake Med inpatient rehab for 7 weeks. Then we came home. We have been to several physical therapy places. We have been to Project Walk and Race to Walk. We are still researching other things we can do so she can walk again without any help.

Gracie was a very active girl before all of this happened. Our hope is that she can get back to being active again. We will never give up on her. This grant would keep Gracie’s hope alive. Also hopefully it will help her to be able to walk without any help of crutches or braces.
