I am a 35-year old married mother of a beautiful 2 year old son. I am also a civil engineer. In August of 2022, I was completing an evening run as I prepared for a triathlon. I have always been athletic and enjoyed setting personal goals to achieve. As I neared my home, I was hit by a truck. Thankfully, I live near a ambulance station and they immediately came out to help me. I was in the hospital 4-5 weeks including my IPR stay. Since then, I continue to work with Dr. Kelly Crawford and my outpatient therapists on progressing toward independence. This process has been both physically and emotionally overwhelming for my family and me. Our faith in the Lord has helped us get through all of this and I am so thankful for the Lord’s promises.
I have worked consistently and diligently throughout the course of a year with my therapists, family, friends and on my own to regain what I have lost. That has come at quite a cost. I continue to have physical therapy needs to address my balance and vestibular dysfunction but am waiting until the New Year to return to therapy for this in order to use insurance reimbursement for this. Dry Needling and the Clinical Driving evaluation are not covered through insurance. Being able to use this grant resource to help with these necessary services would be so helpful in resuming greater independence and alleviating neck pain. I am grateful to have this possibly available to me.
