Alfredo Z.’s Story

It all started last year when I left the hospital after 35 days of being there due to a car accident. I could not receive any PT because I did not have insurance. I was at home for 8 months without being able to work. I had been working for 2 months when I had chest pain, which began to get worse and continued with tingling and numbness from my chest to my feet. Then I began to lose control of my legs and fell several times. They sent me home again. We managed to get an appointment with a neurosurgeonon Nov. 13 and Nov.15. I underwent emergency surgery to remove a cyst on my spine. After surgery, I was able to stand on my own and take steps but now I cannot stand or walk. They told me there are complications and I need a lot of therapy so I can walk again.

Obtaining this grant would mean hope for me and my family. Perhaps it is the only possibility I have of being able to get back on my feet and continue with my life. I need to be able to support my family.
