Joshua’s Story

I was in a car accident on 5/15/21. The accident left me paralyzed from the mid chest down and limited hand motor skills. I was diagnosed with a C5 spinal cord injury.

I am a barber by trade, but due to my injury, I am now unemployed and can no longer do my job. I am working and striving to become more independent, while my main goal is to walk again, I know that can take some time, but in the meantime I am working towards strengthening my upper body, and getting more function in my hands so I can re-enter the workforce. I need more therapy to accomplish my goals of regaining independence and improving my motor function.

My spinal cord injury has come at a huge cost both to me physically, but also financially for myself and my family. This grant would help offset the cost and burden for my family.
