Susan C.’s Story

On August 2020, I was involved in a bicycle crash that left me a paraplegic. I am incomplete meaning I have some sensation and motor function below the level of injury. My injury level is T12 so paralysis is from the waist down. Due to my injury, I am now unemployed since I can no longer do my job. I plan to try to become more independent and drive with hand controls so that I can re-enter the workforce. Since I am an incomplete injury, I am also hopeful that I can regain enough function to be able to stand and walk over limited distances sometime in the next year. I need more therapy to accomplish my goals of regaining independence and improving my motor function.

My spinal cord injury has come at an huge cost both to me physically, but also financially for myself and my family. This grant would help offset the cost and burden for my family.
