Fifa’s Story

I am almost 18 years old. A year ago, I had a hemorrhagic stroke associated with my sickle cell disease. It caused aphasia and significant right sided weakness. I have not been able to return to my high school, but I hope to next year. I have trouble with speaking, writing, reading and understanding what is said in English and my native French. My family and I migrated from Benin in West Africa a few years ago. To have more opportunity to improve my language skills, my speech therapist wants me to use Constant Therapy daily. This is an expense we currently cannot afford.

This grant will permit communication with family, friends, doctors, and teachers and finish school.
