BRITTANY’S STORY

My name is Brittany, I’m 24 years old and I have a 6 year old son. At just 19 years old I got meningococcal meningitis. I was in a coma for two weeks, intensive care for about two months, then rehab for about 3 months. I was so close to dying, my family had a meeting on making the decision to pull the plug. But now here I am! I’m fortunate enough to be here, but unfortunate enough to be in a wheelchair.

Medicaid cut my therapy when I turned 21. Since then I haven’t been able to afford it. But I’m determined to walk even the shortest distance with the help of therapy that I have had the honor of getting through this amazing organization! And I will give it all I’ve got! For myself and my son! I will win this! 🙂
