EVA’S STORY

On April 21, 2014, Eva Maria our sweet 7-year-old little girl who loves movies, having fun, playing with her sister, lights up the room with her warm smile and huge heart, was diagnosed with Infiltrative Astrocytoma (Brain Tumor) grade II. At that moment, all we could wonder is why has this happened to us, and why Eva Maria? Our lives were shattered in a split second and we didn’t know how and what road to turn to help our 7-year-old daughter

After countless doctor appointments, Eva Maria had her first surgery on May 5th in St Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. The surgery took almost 7 hours to complete and they were not able to remove the whole tumor being that tumor was attached to her Basal Ganglia (Body Movement), then on May 8 neurologist surgeons decided to do another surgery to attempt to remove the other half of the tumor, and they were only able to remove 95% of it. After both surgeries, Eva Maria is now partially paralyzed on her right side and unable to walk on her own. She now has a long road to recovery, with rehabilitation and physical therapy along with the numerous doctor visits and MRI’s. Eva has been through a lot in the last few months, and all we can do is pray that our and her life will be back to normal, she misses playing with her sister and all her friends in the park and being the active little girl she was.
